Arise Magazine Fashion Week Ends with a Bang! (THISDAYLIVE)

Part of ARISE Magazine's mission continues to be the promotion of new and established African and African Diaspora designers. ARISE Magazine Fashion Week is only the start of our worldwide ambitions.”

Arise Magazine, Africa¹s first global style and culture magazine‘s ARISE MAGAZINE FASHION WEEK ­LAGOS 2011 which took place in the tents at the luxury Federal Palace Hotel, Lagos, from Thursday 10th March to Sunday 13th March 2011, has drawn to a close with a great big bang, the echoes of which can still be heard and felt around the world.
More than 50 international fashion designers showcased their latest designs in three categories: Double, Group and Collective showcases. The participating designers were:
Alexander Amosu, Amine Bendriouich Couture and BS. Autumn Adeigbo, Angelo Van Mol, B-Side by Wale Adeyemi, Bestow Elan, Black Coffee, Bridget Awosika, Buki Akib, Bunmi Koko, Chichia, Christie Brown, Deola Sagoe, Ejiro Amos Tafiri, Eki Orleans, Eredappa, Gavin Rajah (SA), Gert-Johan Coetzee, Grey, House of Farrah.
House of Nwocha, Ituen Basi, Jewel by Lisa, JIL, Jo Black Craze, Kastle Designs & Treasure Chest, KemKemStudio, Kiki Kamanu, Klûk CGDT, Korto Momolu, Lanre Da Silva Ajayi , LaQuan Smith, Lola Faturoti, Madam Wokie's Couture.
Maki Oh, Mataano, Mustafa Hassanali, Nikki Khiran Couture, NKWO, Odio Mimonet, Okunoren Twins, Pierre-Antoine Vettorello, ReBahia, Samantha Cole, Tiffany Amber, Toju Foyeh, Tsemaye Binitie, Viv La Resistance, Vonne, Xuly.Bët, Zedeye.
Each of the day¹s events closed with a star-studded musical act. The artistes that performed included: Naeto C, Darey Art-Alade, Grammy Award-winning singer Estelle closed the ARISE Magazine Fashion Week.
Sunday 13 March, saw awards bestowed on the very best of the best that show cased their designs. To end the fashion extravaganza was Patrick Chukwuemeka Okogwu - the two-time BRIT Award-winning artist better known as Tinie Tempah whose performance elicited continuous standing ovation.
A particular number of designers that would represent Africa at the New York Fashion Week were selected and given awards. The chosen five are;

* Jewel by Lisa (NG)
* Bunmi Koko (UK)
* Kluk CGDT
* Pierre-Antoine Vetterello
