‘AMERICAN IDOL’ SEASON 12, EPISODE 24: CONTESTANTS EMBRACE ROCK ‘N’ ROLL, SOME FAIL

The ‘American Idol’ 2013 Top 7 hit the stage last night tackling a music genre that left many of the contestants bewildered: rock ‘n’ roll. The night got off to a rocky start with Burnell’s mediocre performance of Bon Jovi’s ‘You Give Love a Bad Name,’ and an incredibly disappointing ...
Lazaro and Angie duet. However, things started looking up after Kree Harrison bellowed her country-rock hybrid of Janis Joplin’s ‘Piece of My Heart.’
Candice and Burnell’s duet stole the spotlight as the best group performance of the night. They performed the Box Tops’ ‘The Letter,’ with Randy Jackson exclaiming, “That was brilliant.”
The judges commented on the contestants looks and clothes almost as much as they critiqued the performances. “I love Janelle’s boots. Can I borrow them?” Nicki Minaj asked after the ‘American Idol’ star sang an effortful, but not particularly memorable rendition of Billey Joel’s ‘You May Be Right.’ The judges even stole the contestant’s wardrobe choices during a commercial break, and returned to Nicki wearing the aforementioned boots and Randy had her vest. Angie Miller concluded the night with a “meh” performance of modern rock favorite, ‘Bring Me to Life,’ which in reality was a pretty decent performance, but simply did not pack the punch you’d expect from an Evanescence song. Overall, the show was alright. We’re pretty sure the contestants are pretty excited to be over with rock ‘n’ roll week because we are sure glad it’s done. Take a look at the list of single performers and duos below:
