Rihanna 'turns up four hours late to charity high school gig'

Rihanna reportedly showed up four hours late to a charity gig two days ago. Local reports say that around 2,500 students waited for the 'Diamonds' singer inside a small gymnasium at Barrington High School in Chicago. In addition, Rihanna only appeared for ...

16 minutes upon arrival, reports the Chicago Tribune. Her appearance was scheduled for 1pm, but she did not arrive until after 5pm due to traffic. The school had won a charity competition launched by Rihanna. Rihanna had tweeted earlier: "This Chicago traffic is not working."

When she appeared on stage, she told the students: "Thank you guys for coming and waiting." However, despite her late and brief appearance, Rihanna was still greeted with "wild applause and Beatlemania-type screaming", the Tribune states. Junior student Patricia Halle said: "It's one thing to be fashionably late. This is just rude. Our lives don't revolve around a popstar. "Our school worked hard to win this. She should be more respectful." Seventh-grader Jaki Mora added: "Rihanna is pathetic. She shouldn't be making us wait for her." Rihanna has sent tickets for her gig at the United Center to be handed out to students as an apology for her late appearance, according to Principal Steve McWilliams. Justin Bieber was heavily criticized for showing up two hours late for his gig at London's O2 Arena earlier this year. Tardiness is the new Platinum status yall!!! lol but seriously, not a good look.... i mean you guyz are way too rich and connected to be tardy (helicopters anyone!???!!!)
