It's official: Britney Spears is
bringing her southern drawl to the next season of The X Factor. While
we're still not sure what, exactly, the pop superstar will bring to the judging
table (we haven't really seen her speak without a script for, oh, six years),
we're certainly excited to see her interacting with professional Rude Dude Simon
Cowell and her bubbly pop successor Demi Lovato.
But what's it going to take to impress Ms. Spears?
A quick look at Britney's official Spotify playlists reveals ...
a taste for both pure pop and soulful ballads—as well as her own music (she once told Out magazine, "All of my songs are f**king amazing"). She's also a huge Adele fan, once gushing to Ryan Seacrest, "Her voice is just amazing. She has this soulful sound that rings with you and stays with you.”
Thankfully for X Factor producers Britney enjoys discovering up-and-coming artists. She told Rolling Stone, "It's one of my favorite things to do because it's like being part of a secret. Friends and people around me are always showing me new artists that they love and that's how I learned about Sabi and ended up working with her on “(Drop Dead) Beautiful.” I have always wanted to feature a new artist on one of my albums and she is really cool."

Here are a few of Britney Spears'
favorite songs.
Britney Spears -
"Toxic"
America's sweetheart was without a Grammy until this
2004 smash hit won her a trophy for Best Dance Recording. It's no wonder Spears
considers this hypnotizing track about an addiction to bad romance her very
favorite. The Joseph Kahn-directed music video isn't half bad,
either.
Black Eyed Peas - "Rock That
Body"
Britney loves everything about the Black Eyed Peas'
will.i.am's style—including his copious use of product placement in his music
videos! This thumpy dance track is featured on Britney's special "Workout Mix"
on Spotify—a solid choice for anyone doing battle on the elliptical.
Michael Jackson - "Billie
Jean"
It was no big surprise that Britney included this song on
her "Back to the '80s" playlist, which also features gems like Spandau Ballet's
"True" and Mr. Mister's "Broken Wings." When Jackson died of an accidental
overdose in 2009, Spears stated, "He has been an inspiration throughout my
entire life and I'm devastated he's gone!"
Alice Russell -
"Crazy"
Britney has this stark cover of Gnarls Barkley's biggest
hit on her "Me time" playlist, along with tunes by Whitney Houston, Duffy, and
Aretha Franklin. When it comes to her pop contemporaries, Britney prefers hers
with lots of soul. Russell, a British chanteuse, recently released a
collaboration with English musician Quantic, Look Around the Corner.
