After losing out on the role of Eponine in a movie version of the Broadway musical Les Misérables, the singer-songwriter is in talks to play Joni Mitchell in a biopic about the legendary Canadian songstress.
According to Variety, an offer has not yet been made to Swift, but she ranks ...
high up on Sony Pictures' and producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura's wish list, especially considering the 22-year-old country pop princess has the musical chops—not to mention six Grammy Awards under her belt, two shy of Mitchell's eight—for the part. The flick will be based on Sheila Weller's book Girls Like Us, which is being adapted by filmmaker John Sayles and chronicles the careers of the Blue singer and fellow crooners Carly Simon and Carole King.Other actresses have been auditioning for the latter parts in recent months, among them Alison Pill, who played Zelda Fitzgerald in Woody Allen's Midnight in Paris.
Once the three leads are locked in, the film is expected to start shooting by year's end under the direction of House executive producer Katie Jacobs.
Swift made her feature acting debut in 2010's Valentine's Day and had a voice role in last month's computer-animated hit The Lorax. Her song "Eyes Open" is also featured on the Hunger Games soundtrack.
