Pink's Australian Arena Tour Grows to 45 Shows

Three years after smashing box office records in Australia, Pink is back in record-making mode Down Under. The pop singer’s “The Truth About Love” tour has grown to 45 shows after her promoter today added arena dates in each of Australia’s big three cities, including a record-equaling 17th show in Melbourne. Her run at Melbourne’s 15,000-capacity Rod Laver Arena is now on a par with the record she set on her ...
blockbuster “Funhouse” tour of Australia back in 2009.
Pink’s upcoming tour will also stretch its Sydney leg to 12 shows at the 21,000 capacity Allphones Arena, and there’s an eighth show at the 13,500-capacity Brisbane Entertainment Centre.
According to Live Nation, the promoters of her Australian tour, Pink’s tour of these parts has already sold more than 500,000 tickets -- staggering figures for a country with a population of 22 million.
Pink always puts-up incredible numbers when she visits these parts. Her 58-date Funhouse Tour criss-crossed the country in 2009, selling 658,000 tickets and generating a total gross of Australian $80 million -- plus an extra Australian $10 million on merch. No other solo artist in the history of Australia’s touring business can boast such figures. On that trek, she spent three months in the country. Australian audiences were so enamoured with her, the Brisbane Entertainment Centre named a ladies’ restroom in her honor -- and decked it out in the color pink. Things have changed since then. Pink, of course, is now a touring mom.
Pink’s “The Truth About Love” tour of Australia tours June 25 and is due to wrap Sept. 5.
