Last week was all about celebration because all of the ‘American Idol’ contestants were saved, but on last night’s episode, the home stretch of the season began and tensions were high. The top 4 ladies sang two songs each: one a recent song from 2013, and the other a “standard” classic.

Rihanna‘s ‘Diamonds.’ Unfortunately, she failed to impress. “It was bland and lackluster,” Nicki Minaj said. Her second performance of ‘Someone to Watch Over Me’ also fell pretty flat.
After Amber Holcomb was saved from elimination last week by a mere technicality, the entire audience was on edge waiting for her to redeem herself. Her first performance of Pink’s ‘Just Give Me a Reason’ was nothing to rave about. By the time she took to the ‘Idol’ stage the second time, it was obvious that she was very nervous, but her beauty and vocals while she sang the jazz standard ‘My Funny Valentine’ swept everyone off of their feet.
If there is one ‘Idol’ that has yet to fail to deliver this season, it is most definitely Candice Glover. She sang Bruno Mars‘ ‘When I Was Your Man’ and the standard ‘You Changed’ soulfully and seemingly effortlessly. “This girl right here, that’s how you sing a song,” Randy Jackson said of the ‘Idol’ diva who received an after-the-fact standing ovation initiated by Nicki Minaj.
Kree Harrison received the most mediocre critiques from the judges, except from Nicki, who stood by her “Kreedom” rendition of Carrie Underwood’s ‘See You Again.’ “I love my Kreedom’s performance. I totally believed what you were singing,” she said.
And of course, there was a small catfight between Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj, as usual. “Clean your ears out,” Minaj told Carey, passing a cotton swab her way. Mariah is so effin immature and its very uncalled for. Nicki is younger and so its expected but when you cant put aside you diva ego (for example when Nicki said that a standing ovation was needed, everyone stood up while Mariah was confused on whether her standing up would imply bending to Nicki .... such childishness .... and when she eventually does, she yells something im guessing is stupid). Mariah you need a maturity check cause all these stunts your pulling (also how stupid was the Disney thing? ... GOD!!!!) wont help you! WAKE UP!!!!
